DIOR D06 Sunglasses

 

Fancy collectible model D06 sunglasses by Christian Dior from the 1970s.

 

Description

These ultra-rare Christian Dior D06 sunglasses feature an oversized bi-coloured butterfly-shaped frame. The frame is made in Optyl with the fading of colours from amber to khaki. The plastic lenses are tinted in gradient brown (non prescription). The D06 model is one of the first Christian Dior sunglasses that have been produced.

The frame is signed "Christian Dior" on the inner right temple and "D06" inside the frame at the level of the right temple fringe (see picture 9). OPTYL logo sticker on the inner left temple.

A collector's piece of fashion history!

 

Condition

These sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition. The black filling of the CD logo on the right temple is slightly rubbed off (see picture 9). Lenses in perfect condition except one short hairline scratch on the right glass beside the hinge. Not visible. Just mentioned for accuracy.

PIERRE CARDIN Sunglasses

Show-stopping and rare oversized Pierre Cardin sunglasses from the 1960s.

 

Description

These 1960s vintage Pierre Cardin model 204-40 sunglasses are a statement and feature a round oversized opaque British racing green frame. The original plastic lenses are tinted in gradient grey (non prescription).

 

The colour and the shape of these flamboyant sunglasses give the design a modern futuristic look. They bear the iconic metal stylized 'PC' logo on the sides. Stamped "PIERRE CARDIN" on the right temple. 

 

Condition

Theses sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition. Minor scratching to the lenses.

JUDITH LEIBER Sunglasses

 

Adorable Judith Leiber Couture jeweled 'Bluebell' sunglasses with case/clutch, dust bag and box.

 

Description

For more than 50 years, Judith Leiber’s evening bags, crystal minaudières and other accessories have been recognized worldwide for their attention to detail. Many of the minaudières are part of the permanent design archives of museums across the globe. 

 

These sophisticated vintage Judith Leiber Couture sunglasses are unworn and come in their genuine crystal detailed leather case, dust bag and box.

 

The oval-shaped design is a sculptural work of art and handcrafted in Italy with meticulous attention from crimson Mazzucchelli acetate with the most beautiful art nouveau-style carved and crystal adorned bluebell motif on the temples. Love that even the ends of the temples are carved and crystal decorated! The upside of the frames and the temples is entirely jeweled with a row of light blue micro crystals. The lenses are crimson as well. Marked on the left inner temple.

 

The beautiful corresponding Judith Leiber sunglass case – actually the design can be worn as a clutch bag as well – is crafted from a silvery-gold lizard pattern leather and trimmed with clear crystals along the front flap closure. Fully lined in sand-colored suede, the case closes with a magnetic snap and comes in its original signed pink dust bag.

 

Condition

The full set – comprising the sunglasses, the case, the dust bag and the box – is in excellent condition with no scratches or missing stones. New old stock.

Flamboyant Alain Mikli Model 4101 596 oval cat-eye sunglasses from the 1990s.

 

Description

Quintessentially Alain Mikli, these 1990s ultra feminine model 4101 596 vintage sunglasses in eye-catching mother-of-pearl orange are hand-made in France from a high quality acetate. They have an 1960s-inspired oval cat-eye silhouette and feature dark grey lenses. Engraved "alain mikli paris hand made in france" inside the right temple and "4101 596" inside the left temple. No case.

PIERRE CARDIN Sunglasses

Futuristic 1980s Pierre Cardin Paris Model 50/7 mask-style sunglasses with pouch.

 

Description

These avantgarde 1980s sporty unisex mask-style model 50/7 Pierre Cardin Paris oversized sunglasses feature a dark blue frame and light blue lenses.

 

Manufactured by HCS in Western Germany. Padded leather part inside the frame across the forehead, padding for the nose and spring hinged temples for a comfortable and secure fit.

 

The stylized "PC" logo on each side of the frame. Marked "Pierre Cardin Paris" inside the right temple and "HCS Pierre Cardin Made in W-Germany" inside the left temple. Comes with its original velvety dark night blue pouch with a small Pierre Cardin logo on center bottom.

 

Condition

Theses sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition with the slightest wear throughout from storage. Appears unworn.

CHRISTIAN DIOR Sunglasses

Stunning documented advertising campaign 1980s Christian Dior model 2043 space age-style sunglasses.

 

Description

These extraordinary vintage Christian Dior model 2043 sunglasses feature a bridgeless oversized translucent green (colour 50) frame with black accents.

 

I am happy to have found documentation of them in another colour in a Christian Dior eyewear advertising from that time. Please see last picture.

 

The frame is made in Optyl which is an extremely light and comfortable material that is adaptable to the wearer's face shape. The original plastic lenses are tinted in gradient grey (non prescription). The colour intensity and the shape of these flamboyant sunglasses give the design a modern futuristic look. The sunglasses bear the iconic metal 'CD' logo on the sides. Otherwise they are not signed as they are an unworn prototype. Come in their original signed grey soft case stamped "Lunettes Christian Dior".

 

Condition

These sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition. The case shows slight colour abrasion. Please have a look at the pictures.

PIERRE CARDIN Sunglasses

Highly collectible avant-garde foldable sunglasses by Pierre Cardin, c. 1964.

 

Description

These rare c. 1964 Pierre Cardin sunglasses are fully foldable. They fold up into an amazingly small package (see picture 2) which is easier to store safely in a pocket or handbag. Such an avant-garde and practical style at the same time!

 

The design features a stylized aviator-shaped tortoise acetate frame. The temporal sides are set off, the right lower than the left, to allow the folding mechanism. It comes with light brown lenses (non prescription). Originally designed for men, they can be worn perfectly by women as well. Engraved "PIERRE CARDIN" inside the right temple. No case. A fashionable and museum worthy piece of futuristic fashion of that time!

 

Condition

These sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition. Minor superficial scratching/wear to the frame and lenses. Minor wear/oxidation to the hinges.

E. KHANH Sunglasses

Collectible signature sunglasses by Emmanuelle Khanh from the 1970s.

 

Description

These rare and sought after model 8080 sunglasses are hand made in France and feature an oversized clear blue frame that is shaded in black. The edges are decorated with leaves-like cut-outs creating a three-dimensional effect. It comes with its original square gradient grey lenses. Both temples bear a silver metal "EK" logo on the outside. On the inside they are marked “Emmanuelle Khanh Paris“ and "8080 191".

 

Designer

Former haute couture model, fashion designer and stylist Emmanuelle Khanh was born Renée Georgette Jeanne Mézière in 1937 in Paris where she died on 17 February 2017. Emmanuelle Khanh was often called the French Mary Quant and known for her modern and youthful designs. In a 1964 Life magazine feature, Khanh declared, "The couture is dead; I want to design for the street." She formed her own company in 1971 and in 1972 she decided to create a collection of bold and colourful glasses. From this will result a series of iconic models, including the famous 8080 frame, worn by Emmanuelle Khanh herself and many celebrities such as Stevie Wonder and David Bowie.

 

Condition

These sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition. The frame shows minor wear that is only visible under close inspection. The original lenses show minor scratching and two visible scratches at the corners of the lenses that do not photograph. Due to the position they do not affect vision.
