Designer

Giuseppe Zanotti was born in 1957 in San Mauro Pascoli, a village near Rimini, Italy. Rimini has had a long history of shoemaking dating back to the 1930s. After working as a freelance designer for small, artisanal shoe companies in the 1980s he started as a designer for various leading fashion brands including Gianfranco Ferré and Valentino. In 1994, Zanotti took over a small shoe manufacturing company called Vicini and began designing and producing his own line of shoe-wear. Since then he became one of the most praised shoe designers. "Shoes will always come first, since they're not just accessories - they're my universe.", he explains. Zanotti's styles are considered emotional, sexy and feminine and are worn by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Uma Thurman, Eva Herzigova, Rihanna and many more.

Designer

Escada was founded by Margaretha Ley and her husband Wolfgang in Munich, Germany, 1976. Being a skilled dressmaker, Margaretha Ley was responsible for the creative part of the company. "She possessed a confident sense of style, a designer's flair, a perfectionist's drive and an eye for colours, patterns and top-quality materials. This was perfect in the 1980s, when the radiant and the glittering, the decorative and the striking were in as much demand as visible luxury. Escada celebrated triumph after triumph and was recognized … as a top brand" throughout the world (Escada – The Eccentric Racehorse, German Fashion Design, Distanz Verlag, Berlin).

Margaretha Ley died in 1992. After her death Escada has interpreted its brand values in a new updated way.
